We're dedicated to ensuring excellence in partner-dance instructor training!

The dance industry is flourishing and expanding with the popularity of shows like "So You Think You Can Dance?" and "Dancing With The Stars" and movies like "Shall We Dance?" and “Dance With Me.” There has never been a more opportune and exciting time than now to choose a career as a ballroom dance instructor!

Becoming a ballroom dance instructor is a career option for anyone. The only requirement is a desire to learn, a love of dance, and a love of helping others. No prior dance experience is necessary. This vocational course is the first of its kind and is currently only available in the U.S., the Caribbean and Canada. We have scheduled the classes so you can fit them into your schedule without interrupting your work and/or family obligations. Homework assignments will be given to keep you moving effectively through the course.

Our Ballroom Dance training is based on the work of world renowned "teacher of teachers" Diane Jarmolow. Diane formulated this system for teaching Ballroom Smooth and Rhythm dancing from over 20 years experience of teaching dance instructors.  She has trained hundreds of professional dance instructors, including preparing U.S. and international dance champions for their certification exams.

Diane is a DVIDA National Examiner, and the originator of their new, innovative system of professional certification. She is the founder and former owner/director of the Metronome Ballroom (now Cheryl Burke Dance), one of the largest ballroom dance studios in the country. She currently consults and trains studio owners, managers and dancers throughout the United States and internationally.

If you are looking to take your social dancing to another level, you'll become a better dancer by learning concepts you may not have understood before. The technical expertise you gain through learning both the lead and the follow aspects of each dance will catapult your dancing to an entirely new level.

The greatest accomplishment a dance teacher can achieve is obtaining a professional certification. That is why this course is designed to prepare you to take the professional DVIDA (Dance Vision International Dancers Association) Associate Exam, recognized by the National Dance Council of America as a syllabus and methodology of the highest standards. You will learn everything necessary to take and pass this exam with confidence. Once you have your certification, you will be very employable and will have the option to work for a dance studio or start your own independent business. Examination arrangements will be made for you, and administered by guest a guest Examiner.

This course involves 4 quarters (May-August, September-December, January-April). You can commence your training with any quarter at any time. At the END of each quarter you will have learned the theory and practical as leader and follower. Examinations are available at the end of your particular quarter upon your request.

YOU WILL LEARN:

  • To dance syllabus patterns of 17 dance styles as leader and follower with a partner
  • The technical elements for each dance (Theory)
